Sprocket hole Sunday.

A few months ago, I was generously given a set of adapters to use 35mm film in a medium-format camera. I put the adapters in the Lubitel 166B and brought it to Arizona over winter break.

It could be gimmicky, of course, but so can any technique if overused. I feel the subject matter here lent itself nicely to the sprocket holes, and I was pleased that it was fairly easy to compose with the 6×6 format.

Hope you enjoy!

My double life.

Maybe it’s because I was born a Pisces. Maybe because I’m just contrary by nature. I don’t know. Whatever the reason, however, I find that my life is constantly being pulled in two different directions. How do you think I came up with my blog name, after all?

These days, the conflict manifests itself in my roles as both student and teacher, and in the decision to either keep teaching and trying to squeeze more money blood out of the stone of academia, or to finish my training as a paralegal and enter the legal profession.

It seems fitting, then, that I’ve recently tried my first intentional double exposure photograph. I’ve had a few happy accidents with this in the past, but I hadn’t yet tried to plan one. It came out well enough to encourage me to do more.

As for my double life and whether or not the results will also be encouraging, I guess I’ll just have to keep shooting and hope for the best!

Day 342: Not so gently down the stream.

I took the Lubitel out to play last weekend. The exposures were tricky and I messed up the development a bit, but I still liked how some of the pictures came out.

Day 232: Two for one!

Yesterday’s picture was proof that I not only have a thing for geese, but I also seem to be prone to double exposures when shooting with the Lubitel.

Luckily for me, they often turn out to be happy accidents.

Day 232 - Double river

One day, I might even try this intentionally. Of course, if it want to ensure that it would turn out well, perhaps I’d better stick with the happy accidents!
