Day 345: A frozen lake, part 2.

It’s impossible to see them clearly in this picture, but there were hundreds of geese taking a rest in the middle of the lake, all gathered around a hole in the ice where the lake hadn’t frozen yet. They were quite loud. Seriously, it was almost a Hitchcock movie.

In an effort to capture the size of the flock, I broke out the 28mm lens for the Spotmatic. That lens gave me the scope I needed, but it was too far away to get any good look at the birds, unfortunately. If you enlarge the picture, you can at least better see the boundaries of the flock.
