Day 204: Back to the salt mines.

Okay, these weren’t really salt mines but salt pans. Either way, a little over two weeks ago, I was at the salt pans in a literal way. Now, back at home and at work, I’m only in the metaphorical mines.

Day 204 - SaltMy film pictures won’t be ready until the end of the week, but I also took plenty of digital shots. This was taken on the day I arrived, just outside of Piran, Slovenia. The salt pans here date back to the 13th century and workers harvest the sea salt using methods unchanged for over 700 years.

So you were in Europe, and didn’t come and check out little old Laroque. Shame on you!

*hangs head* I suppose it’s really only Italy in between France and Slovenia, but in my defense, a 13-hour drive from Ljubljana is still a bit more than a day trip away 😉

And I always thought you Americans could cross whole states before breakfast. We could do with visiting Slovenia ourselves: we get quite a few good reports.
