Tracks

Sometimes on our way to the river, we’ll cross the tracks at the same time that a train is coming. If I’m very lucky, it will be an Amtrak that will rush past without stopping at this station. We both love to watch the trains, and the closest thing I get to adrenaline addiction is standing on the bridge over the tracks, waiting for that train to come speeding underneath my feet, waiting for the burst of wind from its passage to hit me. But even when there is no train, it’s nice to stand above and look far down the tracks at the promise, the romance, the adventure of where they could take me.
